Lidocaine Toxicity Pharmacology Mnemonic

Lidocaine is used for Local infiltrate, nerve block, spinal, epidural, topical, IV regional.

Lidocaine is useful in acute ischemic ventricular arrhythmias, for example, after myocardial infarction. Atrial arrhythmias are not responsive unless caused by digitalis.

Lidocaine Dosage Guideline

Adult: 300 mg of 10% solution IM; 50- to  100-mg IV bolus at the rate of 20–50 mg/min; 1- to 4-mg/min IV infusion Pediatric: safety and efficacy not established; 1 mg/kg IV followed by IV infusion 30 mcg/kg per minute has been recommended.


Lidocaine Side Effects:

Bradycardia, hypotension, arrhythmias, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, seizures, pruritus, rash, nausea, vomiting, altered taste, visual changes, tinnitus, respiratory depression, allergic reaction.
