The time course of myelosuppression varies with the chemotherapy regimen. In general, the onset of myelosuppression is 7 to 10 days after the chemotherapy has been administered. Th e lowest point of the counts, called the nadir, is usually reached in 10 to 14 days, though for some agents this can be much longer. Recovery of counts usually occurs in 2 to 3 weeks.
