NORMAL VITAL SIGNS

  • Infant (0-12 months)
  •  Heart Rate: 100-160 beats per minute
  •  Respiration (0-6 months): 30-60 breaths per minute
  •  Respiration (6-12 months): 24-30 breaths per minute
  •  Blood Pressure (0-6 months): 65-90/45-65 mm Hg
  •  Blood Pressure (6-12 months): 80-100/55-65 mm Hg  Temperature: 98.6° F or 37°C

Child (1-11 years)

  •  Heart Rate: 70-120 beats per minute
  •  Respiration (1-5 years): 20-30 breaths per minute
  •  Respiration (6-11 years): 12-20 breaths per minute
  •  Blood Pressure: 90-110/55-75 mm Hg  
  • Temperature: 98.6° F or 37°C

Adult (12+ years)

  •  Heart Rate: 60-100 beats per minute
  •  Respiration: 12-20 breaths per minute
  •  Blood Pressure: 120/80 mm Hg  Temperature: 98.6° F or 37°C

LAB VALUES

  • Hematology Values
  • Red Blood Cells: 4.5-5.0 million
  • Hemoglobin (Male):14-18 g/dL
  • Hemoglobin (Female): 12-16 g/dL
  • Hematocrit (Male): 42-54%
  • Hematocrit (Female): 36-48%
  • White Blood Cells: 5,000-10,000

 

Coagulation Parameters

  • Coumadin (Warfarin)
  • Prothrombin Time (PT): 11-14 seconds (normal), 16-28 seconds (therapy)
  • International Normalized Ratio (INR): 0.8-1.2 (normal), 2.0-3.0 (therapy)
  • Antidote: Vitamin K
  • Heparin/Lovenox/Dalteparin
  • Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT): 25-35 seconds (normal), 38-70 seconds (therapy)  Antidote: Protamine Sulfate

Serum electrolytes

  •  Potassium: 3.5-5 mEq/L
  •  Sodium: 135-145 mEq/L
  •  Chloride: 95-105 mEq/L
  •  Calcium: 8.5-10.9 mg/L
  •   Phosphorus: 2.5-4.5 mg/L
  •  Magnesium: 1.5-2.5 mEq/L
